Philosophies of the Shield and Buckler Parenting Module:
The philosophy is to change the behavior of the parent, by changing the parent’s mind-set. The focus is to change how the parent views their child. In most cases when a parent contacts S&B, it is discovered that the parent has made a number of mistakes in how they interact with the child. These mistakes can range from, not holding the child accountable for what they say and what they do; rewarding bad behavior, permitting the child to develop a sense of entitlement. These are just a few behaviors that can result in a negative response from the child. It takes more than a couple sessions to impact the mind-set of an individual. It takes consistent and repetitive coaching and mentoring on the S&B concepts.
Methods of Instruction:
There are a number of methods that S&B uses to impact the mind-set. Through intense conversation in specific areas of parenting style, the parent will see significant improvements in behavior and attitude within weeks of implementing the S&B concepts. Identification of areas the parent needs to improve according to S&B standards. S&B will establish a plan for corrective action in these areas. Everything they get comes from the parent(s) or guardian(s). The books “Change the Parent Change the Child” and the children’s book “Why do I have To” are the foundational training materials used to re-establish order and ultimately improve the family structure. These books together are a virtual “How To” manual for improved parenting and getting the child to understand why it is so very important to listen and follow the instructions of the parent.
S&B training consist of the parent being taught to always refer back to the aforementioned training materials to reaffirm the concepts they’ve been taught. Also, during the contract period and especially afterwards, S&B will be accessible via social media, telephone and even scheduled office visits to maintain and eventually solidify the transformation to the S&B mind-set.
